Cedars Community Hospice is a nonprofit organization that provides compassionate care to terminally ill patients. Our care philosophy promotes quality of life to help individuals live in comfort and with dignity, while surrounded by their loved ones. We currently deliver in-home hospice care throughout Western Pennsylvania.

We have recently opened our new, state-of-the-art Cedars Hospice Center to provide hospice care to patients that can no longer stay in their homes. The first free-standing inpatient hospice center in the Eastern region of Allegheny County, Cedars Hospice Center delivers end-of-life hospice care that supports patients and families.

Cedars Family of Services

Cedars Community Hospice and the Cedars Hospice Center are part of the Cedars Family of Services. The mission of the Cedars Family of Services is to provide exceptional and patient-focused health care that embraces a holistic and family-sensitive approach. Throughout the entire organization, we emphasize our core values of caring, respect and integrity. Other Cedars Family of Services organizations include:

  • The Cedars of Monroeville - offering independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing services in a senior living community since 1998

  • Cedars Home Health Care - delivering quality and compassionate therapy and nursing services to patients in their own homes since 2000

  • Cedars Community Care Network - offering in-home and in-facility private duty care and services since 2000

Cedars Founder & Visionary

The Cedars Family of Services is indebted to the vision and mission of its founder, the late Robert S. Purcell. His commitment to providing trusted, quality and convenient health care choices to seniors in the Monroeville Area was the basis of our formation and growth.

Before his passing in 2005, Mr. Purcell was working on plans to build an inpatient hospice center. Although he was not able to see his vision through to completion, his memory is honored by the opening of the Cedars Hospice Center.

Together these organizations offer a wide range of health care options that help individuals live comfortably and with dignity in the setting that best meets their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
