When curing the illness is no longer possible, hospice offers care that promotes patients’ quality of life as they prepare for end-of-life. Our holistic approach focuses on relieving physical pain, while providing care and services that fulfill the psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones.

Cedars Community Hospice provides a wide-range of care services focused on promoting patients' quality of life, which can be delivered to them at home or at the inpatient Cedars Hospice Center in Monroeville. Since 2005, Cedars Community Hospice has reached over 300 individuals and their families.

"People fear hospice because they think of it as the end.  But, it really means to make the most of what we have while living."

Sandy Newsom
Daughter of former Cedars hospice patient

Our services span the four levels of hospice care:

Routine Care

Delivered in the home to patients with manageable symptoms.

Continuous Care

Delivered on short-term basis to bring unmanageable symptoms under control.

Respite Care

Round-the-clock care to provide primary caregiver an interim period of rest.

Inpatient Care

Symptom and pain management delivered in our hospice center.

Our experienced team of care providers is led by our medical director, who is Board Certified by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and is comprised of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, nurses’ aides, social workers, spiritual and bereavement counselors, and volunteers. We develop an interdisciplinary plan of care for each hospice patient and regularly review it to ensure that we continue to provide the best care possible as a patient’s condition changes.
